Job Description
Freedom 77 Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a confidential client for a Site Foreman to oversee broiler site operations based in some part of Botswana.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing daily production activities to ensure optimal performance, strict biosecurity compliance, animal welfare standards, and effective people management in line with operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Production Performance
• Plan, allocate, and coordinate daily operational tasks to subordinates
• Ensure production targets (FCR, mortality rate, PEF, slaughter age) are consistently achieved
• Prepare broiler houses for placement of Day-Old Chicks (DOCs)
• Ensure DOCs are received, counted, weighed, and placed according to standards
• Ensure vaccination programs are correctly implemented and recorded
Feeding, Cleaning & Catching
• Implement feeding, cleaning, and catching programs in line with schedules
• Monitor execution and take corrective action where deviations occur
Biosecurity, Animal Welfare & Compliance
• Enforce strict adherence to biosecurity, animal welfare, health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Ensure compliance with company rules, policies, and procedures at all times
Maintenance & Housekeeping
• Liaise with the Maintenance team regarding faults, damages, and repair requirements
• Monitor and ensure facilities, equipment, gates, fences, and housing structures are secure and functional
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site cleanliness
People Management
• Lead, supervise, and motivate site staff
• Train, coach, and mentor new and existing employees
• Promote teamwork, discipline, accountability, and performance
Reporting
• Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly operational reports
• Communicate site performance, challenges, and improvement actions to management
Other Duties
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Minimum Requirements
• BGCSE or Diploma in Animal Health or related field
• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within poultry or agricultural operations
• Proven supervisory experience in a production environment
Key Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of broiler production and poultry farming operations
• Understanding of biosecurity, animal welfare, and food safety standards
• Leadership and people management capability
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High attention to detail and operational discipline
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets
• Team-oriented mindset with cross-department collaboration skills
