Job Summary: The Rehabilitation Officer will provide rehabilitation interventions to learners with various disabilities, empower them to transition into independent living, and support post-training services. This role also involves assisting with the day-to-day operations of the center and ensuring a high standard of service delivery. Required Qualifications: • Diploma/Degree in Special Needs Education, Health and Social Care, Vocational Education, Clinical Social Work, Counselling, or Medical Rehabilitation Studies from recognized institutions. Required Experience: • At least five (5) years of post-qualification experience, including the use of modern equipment and rehabilitation methods. Competencies and Skills: • Knowledge and experience in disability education and rehabilitation. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Knowledge of community stakeholder engagement and resource mapping. • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to perform under pressure. • Ability to work in a team of highly qualified professionals. • Registration with a regulatory body (where applicable). • Proficiency in curriculum execution and review. • Strong diplomatic skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues. • Possession of a valid driver’s license. • Digital/computer literacy for online research. Key Responsibilities: • Ensure the delivery of quality rehabilitation services at the institution and in the community. • Conduct assessments and implement rehabilitation plans for learners. • Transfer skills to learners, caregivers, and the team. • Support learners in performing Activities of Daily Living. • Establish strong networks with community and key stakeholders. • Plan and implement projects such as IBR and CBR, ensuring compliance with BQA standards. • Mobilize resources for the rehabilitation unit. • Raise awareness of disability rights and engage in community mobilizations with various stakeholders. • Organize and recommend assistive devices and supportive activities like sports and educational programs. • Maintain accurate records for all learners and conduct occasional research for the unit. • Support the Executive Director in ensuring the smooth running of the organization. • Perform any other duties as assigned by the center leadership to benefit learners and the center.
