Job title: Program Coordinator – Youth Pathways & Transitions About the roleYouth Impact has worked with thousands of young people as volunteer facilitators, including national service participants, placing them in schools and communities to deliver high-impact education and health programs. For many, this is their first meaningful work experience — but too often, these opportunities do not translate into clear next steps. We are now entering an exciting new phase of our work: intentionally strengthening pathways from these frontline roles into employment, further study, and long-term opportunity. This means adding more structure, support, and connection — from training and mentorship through to links with employers and training institutions. We are looking for a highly capable and motivated operator to lead and coordinate this work. This is a hands-on, outward-facing role for someone who is energised by working with young people and passionate about expanding access to opportunity. Success will mean not just a well-run system, but young people moving into better, more meaningful pathways — and a model that can shape how youth employment is approached more broadly in Botswana. Key responsibilitiesLead coordination of the youth pathways initiative across Programs, Curriculum & Training, Research & Innovation, and Communications to ensure delivery of key milestones and outcomesBuild and manage relationships with employers, training institutions, and partners to create credible and accessible opportunities for young peopleDesign and implement a structured approach to linking participants with opportunities (“matching”), including exposure, recruitment touchpoints, and follow-throughOversee participant progression from onboarding through to post-program transition, ensuring consistent support, tracking, and follow-throughOrganise and manage pathway-related activities, including employer engagement sessions, career fairs, networking events, and recruitment opportunitiesSupport participants with transition preparation, including CV development, interview readiness, and practical job search strategiesWork closely with Research & Innovation to define, track, and use data on participant progression, placement outcomes, and system performanceIdentify bottlenecks and gaps in the pathways system and rapidly test and implement improvementsEngage government stakeholders (e.g. Ministry of Youth, Ministry of Labour) to align pathways with national priorities and systemsProvide clear direction and coordination to team members contributing part-time to the initiative, ensuring accountability and progress across functionsRequired experience and qualifications5+ years post qualification experience in program management, partnerships, operations, or related fields (e.g. education, youth development, employment, or social impact)Demonstrated track record coordinating complex, cross-functional workstreams and driving execution across multiple teamsExperience engaging external stakeholders, an established strong network with employers, training providers, government, or partnersStrong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against timelinesProven ability to work independently with limited oversight and drive work forward in ambiguous environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to external stakeholdersExperience using data to inform decisions and improve program performanceFamiliarity with youth employment, skills development, or labour market systems (desirable)Experience working with or within government systems (desirable)Who will thrive in this roleDeeply motivated by expanding opportunities for young people and addressing youth unemploymentEnergised by working directly with young people and external partners, and comfortable operating in the fieldComfortable building something new, with a bias toward action and problem-solvingAble to coordinate across teams without formal authority and keep work moving forwardStrategic but practical, able to quickly identify what matters most and focus effort accordinglyOther requirementsTravel requirements: Regular travel within Botswana expected Legal requirements: Legal right to work in Botswana required Language: Fluency in English required; Setswana preferred Drivers license: Preferred BenefitsBenefits include generous annual leave, sick leave, (including global health insurance provisions), various stipends, professional development opportunities, the ability to work remotely, access to our amazing global networks and much more.
