Group IT Manager - Infrastructure - FSG Limited

Position: Group IT Manager - Infrastructure Location: Gaborone About FSG Limited: FSG Limited is a leading provider of financial and care solutions, delivering holistic support to individuals, families, and communities with 23 branches across Botswana and with significant presence in South Africa, and Zambia. Applications are invited from qualified Botswana citizens for the position of Group IT Manager Infrastructure tenable at Gaborone Purpose Of The Job: The Group IT Manager - Infrastructure is a critical IT Management role responsible for the strategic planning, delivery, and ongoing management of all core IT infrastructure and cloud services across FSG's multi-country operations. This includes networks, data centres, servers, storage, cloud platforms, end-user computing, and IT service management. Minimum Educational Requirements: Essential: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing multi-site, preferably multi-country, environments. • Proven experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and vendor management for large-scale infrastructure. • Deep, hands-on technical expertise in: • Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure (preferred) or AWS, including laaS, PaaS, and cloud governance. • Networking: WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, VPN, Firewalls (Pfsense, Fortinet, etc.), and wireless technologies across geographically dispersed sites. • Core Infrastructure: Windows/Linux Server, VMware/Hyper-V, SAN/NAS storage, backup & recovery solutions. • Microsoft Ecosystem: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and associated security tools. • Solid experience implementing and managing ITIL-based Service Management processes. • Valid passport and willingness to travel extensively (up to 40%) across Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa when required. Highly Desirable: • Professional certifications: Azure/AWS Solutions Architect Expert, CCNP/CCIE, PMP, ITIL Master/Expert, CISSP, or equivalent. • Experience in a group holding company or a similarly complex, diversified organization. Key performance areas: Strategic Leadership & Governance: • Develop and execute a 3-5-year group-wide IT infrastructure strategy, roadmap, and investment plan. •Establish and enforce group-wide IT infrastructure policies, standards, and architecture principles. • Manage the group IT infrastructure budget (CAPEX & OPEX), ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI. • Provide strategic input to the CTO and Group EXCO on infrastructure-related risks and opportunities. • Lead the evaluation, selection, and management of key technology vendors and service providers. Infrastructure Operations & Service Delivery: • Ensure 24/7/365 availability, performance, and security of all IT infrastructure (network, servers, storage, cloud, telephony, etc.). • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of a hybrid IT environment (on-premises data centres and cloud - laaS/PaaS/SaaS, primarily Microsoft Azure/AWS). • Lead the IT Service Management (ITSM) function, implementing ITIL best practices for incident, problem, change, and configuration management. • Manage group-wide disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including regular testing. • Directly oversee regional IT infrastructure teams in Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa, providing mentorship and technical guidance. Security, Risk & Compliance: • Work closely with the CTO and Information Security lead to implement and maintain robust infrastructure security controls, cyber-defence systems, and compliance frameworks. • Ensure infrastructure compliance with relevant local regulations in each country (Data Protection Acts in Botswana). • Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability management for the infrastructure estate. • Own the infrastructure-related components of internal and external audits. Project Management & Innovation: • Lead major infrastructure projects (e g., cloud migrations, network modernization, M&A integrations). • Research and recommend innovative technologies to drive operational efficiency and business enablement. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the infrastructure team.
