About AMB
AMB is a small and newly established financial services company based in Botswana, having commenced lending operations a year ago. It focuses on working with registered entities and co- operatives to expand access to responsible lending. AMB is part of the Agora Group, a Netherlands- based investor-operator group with a strong track record of establishing impactful financial institutions across Africa and Asia. With this support, we combine deep local engagement with global experience in creating access to financing for underbanked groups or entities.
About the role:
We are looking for a CEO with a strong background in the financial services or banking sector, who brings a solid and proven understanding of credit risk within the formal lending space. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with a sharp eye for detail and a hands-on leadership style. The new CEO will play a critical role in building robust operational procedures and systems, setting high standards across all functions, and ensuring disciplined execution as the company grows. This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is motivated by the opportunity to shape and strengthen a high-impact lending institution from the ground up.
Key responsibilities:
• Build and establish the company, including its team, financing processes, products, and assessment tools for lending to SMEs and Co-operatives.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with AMB’s mission and values, focusing on increasing access to finance for underbanked groups or
• Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and potential revenue streams to drive the organization's growth and
• Establish and uphold high operational standards across the organisation, with a focus on strong credit risk management practices, process discipline, and execution
• Forge strong connections with communities and businesses around Gaborone (initially) understanding their needs, challenges, and aspirations related to financial products and
• Ensure AMB’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in Botswana, including but not limited to maintaining and developing adequate policies and procedures, and submitting regular reports to the relevant regulatory
• Collaborate with community leaders, government officials, and local organizations to establish trust, credibility, and mutually beneficial
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of the financial sector in Botswana to create suitable and efficient financial products and services that cater to the unique needs of our target
• Lead by example, fostering a culture of honesty, transparency, and ethical behaviour throughout the

• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to achieve sustainable growth and maintain a balance between social impact and operational
Eligibility criteria:
• A minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in the financial services
• Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field (MBA preferred but not essential).
