ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - BIUST

VACANCY The University is looking for qualified and experienced individuals for the below stated position. The positions is based at the BIUST Campus, Palapye. SCHOOL OF ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: - Work with colleagues on curriculum development and the advancement of the relevant discipline - Deliver teaching over a range of modules within an established programme - Undertake student tutoring and support - Conduct individual research or work on collaborative projects - Supervise students projects (both undergraduate and postgraduate levels) - Source external and internal research funding from national and international donors - Community engagement COMPETENCIES/SKILLS: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills. - Mentoring and coaching. - Negotiation, networking and relationship building. - Organizational (planning, budgeting, time management, work prioritization). - Research, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving. - Organisational awareness with an understanding of how to engage the organisation to get things done. - Professionalism and adherence to good work ethics. - Results and performance driven. - Team player with strong dedication to BIUST’s purpose and mission. - Prepare and submit proposals, supervise projects and graduate students, synthesise information to design learning experiences, and go seek out research grants/funding Academic Qualification: - A Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or any related field from a recognized institution. - The candidate must be registered with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) Botswana. - The candidate must be registered with Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) as an Assessor and Moderator or eligible to register within one (1) year of assumption of duty. Experience: - Experience in teaching at tertiary level for at least 3 years - A sustained and recent record of peer-reviewed publications and other research output over at least a six-year period (min. of 16 peer-reviewed publications of ISI journals / scopus or web of science indexed journals) - Experience of obtaining external research funding Remuneration The University offers an attractive package, commensurate with qualification and experience.
